Peugeot 208 front wheel bearing replacement

This Peugeot 208 came in with a ‘droning’ noise when being driven. We road tested to confirm whether it was a wheel bearing. From road test we couldn’t be sure whether it was front or back or left or right.

We put the car on the ramp so we could ‘free wheel’ it. We manually spun up the wheels and, from the noise that one of the wheels made, we confirmed that it was the drivers front wheel bearing.

We removed the bearing assembly and pressed out the worn bearing. The wheel bearing was so badly worn that the wheel speed sensor had to be renewed at the same time.

We cleaned up the inner faces of the hub and pressed in a replacement bearing. We then replace the ABS sensor and programmed to new sensor to the cars computer (ECU)

The hub was then built up and we carried out a road test to ensure that there were no further issues with the car.

All was good and the car was collected by a happy owner
